When I was only in magic, I was perhaps seven or eight, I was lucky, a father, me going in the right direction was given by you in the public library. He said, I should have books on sleight of hand. As I said as I was stupid and stubborn, that "No, I want to learn magic" and some books on magic immediately found. So, they were books about "black magic" and other terrible things I wanted nothing to do with, so I followed Dad's advice (I mainly should have done that since he was such a smart guy). I found some books on "magic tricks" and "Trick" and I walked away.
Let me save you some time. Sleight of hand is hard. It takes a lot of practice to do. Plus, you must make sure that it the right way which otherwise learn you are, you need to unlearn bad habits. There is an easy way to go.
No matter how old you are, you should refer to "self-working" or "easy to" magic tricks. For younger children there to do magic sets for sale that have nice made from plastic tricks, are a lot of fun and easy. More books for younger children, great tricks you have to do with things, you can find around the House. Teens want "trick card decks" and books, the simple, "autonomous" card tricks you focus. If you are a teenager (or even 8-12) you can be learning started sleight of hand of books first, this is the kind of magic that interests you. If you hold it, your skills will grow sleight of hand and you will start blowing away people before you know it.
Finally, for adults. There are many really good Magic books to focus on self working magic cards, money, rope and other common elements. Get some cool tricks in no time to do a bit of study and practice.
